The Arteles Artist Residency programme in October 2025 offered valuable time to develop a self-directed project, learning paper making techniques using foraged plant matter.

The experimental pieces that emerged from the residency spring from the idea that paper making creates a ‘portrait of place’, capturing ecological and hydrological materialities through the use of local plants and water in the paper making process.

The pieces tested moving beyond traditional sheets of flat paper at a determined size, expanding the medium into larger sculptural surfaces and hybrid objects.
