A sculptural and immersive installation piece in the Loch Arkaig Pine Forest, commissioned by the Woodland Trust in partnership with the Arkaig Community Forest.
This immersive installation piece was commissioned as part of an art trail through the Loch Arkaig Pine Forest, intended to facilitate a deeper connection between people and the ecology of the forest.
The piece is designed for both people and nature, encouraging walkers away from the main forest path towards a sculpture on which they can sit, climb and play whilst immersed in an area of Atlantic rainforest. Simultaneously, the piece acts as a habitat and register of the forest’s processes: colonisation, decay and regeneration are all marked on its surface, until, with time, the piece is absorbed visually and materially back into the landscape.
